Senior Pastor Full Time

General Description of Responsibilities

The Senior Pastor is the spiritual leader of the church. He is responsible to the Lord and the church to primarily proclaim the gospel and teach the bible. He is to be engaged in pastoral care, provide supervisory and administrative leadership in all areas of congregational care including paid and volunteer staff.

Pastoral Requirements and Responsibilities (in no particular order):

·        Plan and conduct worship services: prepare and deliver sermons.

·        Lead the church in an effective evangelism program and in a caring ministry for those in the church and the community.

·        Lead an effective program of visiting sick and shut-in members and prospects.

·        Conduct counseling sessions.

·        Conduct funerals.

·        Perform wedding ceremonies.

·        Lead the church in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and evaluating all church programs and ministries in conjunction with Deacon and Trustee Boards.

·        Work with deacons, board of trustees, church officers, and committees/auxiliaries as

they perform their assigned responsibilities.

·        Provide leadership and vision for the church. Direct plans for ministry and church growth.

·        Motivate, equip and nurture the people of the church through example, preaching and teaching God’s Word and spiritual counseling.

·        Oversee church discipline and manage conflict in the church. Seek to reconcile relationships and promote unity within the church.

·        Work with various standing and special committees in accomplishing their respective duties.

•        Demonstrate a passion, ability, and willingness to share Christ and disciple others.

•        Demonstrate an obvious love for the fellowship of the local church.

•  Develop and maintaining strong relationships with all church members through regular visitations, counseling, and support.

•  Important to actively engage the young adults and young families in our community

Qualifications

•  A good communicator (written and spoken)

•  Technologically proficient

•  Meets qualifications of teacher/elder: 1 Tim 3:1 7, Titus1:5 9, 1 Peter 5:1 4

•  Spiritually mature and ordained by a church body with a strong commitment to the Baptist faith

•  Has demonstrated experience in pastoral ministry, including preaching, counseling, and leadership

•  Demonstrates ability to foster church growth

•  Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
