Job Summary:
Woodland Park Baptist Church is seeking a spiritually mature, biblically grounded, and musically gifted Worship Pastor to provide leadership for the spiritual growth of the church through Christ-centered worship ministries.
We are seeking a worship pastor who can effectively lead traditional, contemporary, and blended worship while honoring the church’s musical heritage and engaging multiple generations. The ideal candidate will plan, lead, organize, and develop the church’s various worship services and ministries in consultation with the Senior Pastor.
The Worship Pastor will provide spiritual and musical leadership for the worship team, instrumentalists, choir, worship band, media team, and other worship ministry participants. The position will also recruit, develop, encourage, and disciple volunteers while helping identify and develop emerging worship and musical talent among children and youth.
In addition to worship ministry, this position will provide leadership in another ministry area based on the candidate’s gifts, experience, interests, and the needs of the church.
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Supervises: Worship team, instrumentalists, choir members, worship band, media team, and other worship ministry volunteers.
Qualifications:
Spiritual
- A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a growing personal relationship with Him.
- Commitment to the mission, vision, and worship philosophy of WPBC.
- A Spirit-led life that exemplifies the biblical qualifications for church leadership found in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9, along with a commitment to ongoing discipleship, spiritual growth, and a teachable, godly lifestyle.
- A heart for the spiritual development and growth of those in the congregation and those serving in the worship ministry.
Professional
- Bachelor’s degree in music, worship ministry, or a related field preferred.
- Candidates should have a minimum of four years of meaningful worship ministry experience.
- Demonstrates excellence as a worship leader with strong vocal ability and the ability to lead congregational worship.
- Strong musical skill with experience in and love for choral and instrumental conducting.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to plan, coordinate, and manage multiple ministry responsibilities.
- Pastoral care rooted in biblical truth and Christlike empathy.
- Ability to teach new skills and concepts to both formally untrained and experienced worship team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively with church staff, volunteers, and ministry leaders.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and direct the corporate worship services of WPBC in consultation with the Senior Pastor, ensuring that services are Christ-centered, biblically faithful, and appropriate for congregational worship.
- Select music that is theologically sound, appropriate for congregational singing, and supportive of the overall worship service and message.
- Coordinate all aspects of the worship ministry to function cohesively, including music selection, media preparation and presentation, sound and lighting enhancements, and coordination of instrumentalists, vocalists, and other participants.
- Oversee the worship ministry budget, organization, resources, and volunteers.
- Coordinate with the Children’s Director and Youth Pastor to identify, develop, and mentor emerging musical talent among children and youth, providing opportunities for them to participate meaningfully in worship services and other ministry opportunities.
- Invest time in building intentional relationships with ministry members to pastor, encourage, disciple, and support their spiritual growth.
- Provide leadership in another ministry area based on the candidate’s gifts, experience, interests, and the needs of the church.
- Plan and direct seasonal programs and special worship events as opportunities for worship, ministry, outreach, and community engagement.
- Direct all weekly activities and rehearsals necessary to facilitate prepared, meaningful, and excellent worship experiences in all services.
- Set and evaluate short- and long-term worship ministry goals with the Senior Pastor, aligned with WPBC’s vision and mission
- Establish strategic connections with the local music community and local organizations to create relationships and opportunities that support Great Commission outreach.
