Responsible to: Senior Pastor for day-to-day operations, Personnel Committee for fulfilling responsibilities defined in the job description, defining goals, evaluation, and communication of concerns related to the performance of the position.
Primary Function: The Director of Worship and Music (DWM) will give the highest priority to leading corporate worship weekly, cultivating and coordinating the Music Ministry of the church. The DWM will develop programs and strategies that will encourage members of the music ministry teams, as well as the congregation, to deepen their spiritual lives, grow in their understanding of God. This individual will enlist, equip, empower, encourage, and evaluate church participants for possible service in music ministry.
Responsibilities: The following duties are not to be seen as a comprehensive list, nor to be used as a checklist, but rather to serve as a guide for the DWM in understanding his obligations.

Smith Rock Community Church is a Southern Baptist Church (SBC) currently looking for a pastor to shepherd us in the next phase of our journey. The Youth Pastor is responsible for providing leadership planning, conducting, and evaluating Gospel-centered ministry for 7-12 grade youth students and their families.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plan and organize the music ministry which includes leading the choir, praise band, and all other components of the music ministry.
- Coordinate with the Lead Pastor, choose the music for each service to amplify the theme of the service’s message.
- Supervise the use and integration of audio/visual components during the worship service to ensure each service is presented in a smooth, flowing manner that enhances the worship experience.
- Have an understanding of the different styles of worship music and the preferences of different individuals and develop the music into an integrated, blended music experience.
- Recruit, encourage, and mentor leaders, individuals, and small groups for presenting special music during worship.
- Produce Holiday presentations such as Christmas and Easter
- Participate in ongoing professional development and networking to enhance knowledge and make connections that will help develop the skills required for this position.
- Assist in providing the musicians a proper physical space in the church that will maximize opportunities for spiritual formation, as well as ensure a safe, clean, and healthy environment, while recognizing the space is shared with other organizations.
- Meet and consult regularly with other Ministry Directors to brainstorm, communicate, and coordinate the programs of the Music Ministry.
- The DWM will strive to be a passionate follower of Jesus Christ.
- The DWM must be at least 22 years of age.
- The DWM should hold a bachelor’s degree, preferably with a degree in music or religious studies. Degree requirements may be met with relevant work experience. *Master’s Degree or graduate-level classes a plus.
- The DWM should have proven musical talent and the ability to guide the music ministry, including proficiency at reading music. The ability to lead the congregation and music participants is a must. Ability to play one or more instruments a plus.
- Because the DWM represents the Church to the larger community, he or she should strive to live a life that is beyond reproach and demonstrate a sense of grace and forgiveness when dealing with others.

- In conjunction with the Senior Pastor, assemble a collection of biblically faithful, congregationally-friendly, gospel-centered songs that can be regularly drawn from in the song selection process. A blend of hymns (classic and modern) and contemporary songs is ideal.
- In conjunction with the Senior Pastor, select songs that engage the congregation and support the overall teaching ministry of the church.
- In conjunction with the Senior Pastor, formulate an order of service for each Sunday (knowledge of Planning Center Online is a plus).
- In conjunction with the Senior Pastor, develop a plan for growing and improving the church’s music ministry (including technology).
- Develop and administer an annual budget for the music ministry in accordance with the church’s financial policies and procedures.

- This person will have oversight over all youth, children, and family activities and programs within the church but the primary hands-on responsibility will be the development of a purposeful and vibrant youth program aimed at impacting not only the current youth at FBC but also reaching out to the community to provide inclusion for all no matter of race, ethnicity or denomination.
- In cooperation with the Senior Pastor, Associate Pastor of Worship (Minister of Music), Children’s Committee, Youth Committee, and Pre-School Committee be responsible for coordinating the development, planning, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of a Bible-based intergenerational family ministry with an emphasis on youth and children.
- Serve as an ex-officio member of the Children, Pre-School and Youth Ministry Committees, Nominating Committee, and Sunday School Council.
- Work under the general supervision of the Senior Pastor with the support and guidance of the Personnel Committee.
- Be evaluated annually by the Senior Pastor with consultation and consideration from the Children, Pre-School, and Youth Committees.
- Develop, promote and coordinate activities that are age appropriate for students from K-12 grade.
- Develop a schedule for student ministry volunteers for various classes and events.
- Schedule time each week to meet with students at their schools and develop relationships with school faculty.
- Train and involve Students and Student Leaders in outreach to Students who do not yet have a relationship with Jesus.
- Involve Students in ministry and mission projects.
- Be available to parents to discuss issues related to their child or Student Ministry.
- Assist parents by providing or pointing to tools and advice to help them raise their child(ren) in a godly environment.
- Provide opportunities to include students in church ministries.
- Facilitate Leadership Meetings with Student Ministry Teams
- Provide Students training opportunities in Local, State and National levels.
- Is a member of the Ministry Team, Student Ministry Team and the Follow Up Team.
- Present an annual budget for discipleship needs.

- Seminary education or willingness to pursue seminary education, ideally from an SBC institution.
- Plan, conduct, and coordinate the ministry to students based on needs and expectations of the Church. The program and activity planned must be developed in alignment with the mission and ministries of the Church. All programs shall have as their goals the development of making disciples, through the gospel, in community, and on mission.
- Recruit and train student volunteers to serve in the ministry.
- Disciple parents and volunteers. Effectively communicate with students, parents, volunteers, and Church staff. Building relationships is crucial to a successful youth ministry.
- Arrange the set-up and clean-up of any materials and equipment used in all student programs and activities.
- Make budget recommendations for all student ministry programs and operate within the Church-approved budget.
- Perform other duties driven by the mission of the Church. Duties may include but not limited to writing curriculum for students, managing social media, student outreach, parent equip classes, etc.
