Pastor – Part-time

·        Wages

o   $2000.00 per month

·        Sick Leave

o   Time allowed for sick leave will be determined by the Leadership committee in consultation with Pastor and in accordance with state law.

·        Vacation/PTO (personal time off)

o   2 weeks paid (each week will consist of 1 Sunday and any other activities during the week).  Additional time off/vacation will be according to tenure and at the discretion of the Leadership committee.  Pastor will be responsible for helping Leadership committee secure fill-in Pastor for each week of vacation.

·        Responsibilities         

o   Preparation of and delivery of sermon for each Sunday morning.  Additional day and/or evening for visitation, Bible study, etc.  The additional day and/or evening can and will change based on the needs of the Church which will be determined based on discussion between the Pastor and the Leadership committee.

o   Meet with Leadership committee monthly to review happenings of the previous month and discuss plans for the upcoming month. 

·        Professional growth

o   Professional growth for the Pastor is encouraged for both the growth of the Pastor and Church.  This should consist of Pastor retreats and other educational seminars.  The Church should cover a fill-in Pastor during the time the Pastor is attending and cover the expenses of the retreat if travel is required.  Retreats and educational seminars will be discussed and agreed to by the Leadership committee. 

·        Probation

o   6-month probationary period with a review after 3 months (and 6 months) for Pastor.  Ideally any concerns that the Pastor and/or Leadership committee has will be discussed immediately and not wait for a review.

·        Annual review

o   Pastor will have an annual review with the Leadership committee. 



Associate Pastor to Youth and Families

Principle Function: The Principle Function of the Associate Pastor, under the supervision of the Senior Pastor, is to support and evaluate the overall educational youth programs of the church. This is including but not limited to Sunday School, missions organizations, leadership training programs, youth ministry and any other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor. Qualifications & Experience for the Position:
  • Born again believer (John 3:3; Romans 10:9-10)
  • Baptized by immersion (Colossians 2:12)
  • Preferably Ordained
  • Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Youth related field
  • Cisgender male married to a cisgender female (Genesis 1:27; Genesis 2:24)
  • Computer and Social Media savvy
  • Minimum of 5 years experience ministering within a church, preferably with young people
  • Mid 20s-late 30s
  • Must have a passion for Children, Students and their families
  • Displays strong and compassionate leadership qualities
  • Motivational, reliable, personable, approachable, relatable
  • Excellent Communication, organizational and other management skills
  • Demonstrates an ability to teach, develop strategies, and solve problems
  • Preferably background in music. Single or multi skilled in instruments such as piano, drums, keyboard, guitar, voice, etc.
Responsibilities of the Position: The Associate Pastor must be a Christian who exemplifies the character, values, motives, attitudes of Jesus Christ. (Titus 1:7-9) The Associate Pastor must be able to give convincing testimony of the call of God in his life. He should continue his educational opportunities in youth and education activities by attending workshops and seminars related to youth and education, in consultation with the Senior Pastor. The Associate Pastor is to edify the body of Christ by discipling young people, facilitating spiritual growth, leading and organizing various areas of ministry at First Baptist Church of LaPlata, to the glory of God. (Ephesians 4:11-12; 2 Timothy 2:2)
  • Must join the church
  • Participate in and oversee as many Youth activities as possible
  • Attend all scheduled worship/ educational activities
  • Other duties as directed by the Pastor
Spiritual:
  • Maintains a consistent personal devotional life
  • In consultation with the Senior Pastor, provides spiritual direction to youth in discipleship, in promoting prayer life, Bible study and other training programs. (Ephesians 4:11-12)
  • Provides direction and guidance to outreach and in-reach programs, and visitation of members and prospects, and provides Christian counseling to youth and their families when requested in compliance with church policy. (Matthew 28:19-20)
  • Be available for hospital visitation.
  • Able to fill the pulpit in the absence of the Pastor as requested.
Administrative Responsibilities:
  • Cooperate with the Senior Pastor to achieve the goals and objectives of the church.
  • Serve as the chair of the youth council and hold quarterly meetings to determine the goals and objectives of the youth program of the church.
  • Assimilate the youth ministries and activities into the total life of the church
  • Work with nominating committee in the selection and enlistment of workers in the educational and youth programs of the church.
  • Make recommendations to the finance committee for the youth programs and manage the approved budget for the assigned areas.
  • Maintain an accurate system of record keeping of activities in compliance with church policy
  • Be responsible for publicizing church related events, activities and programs through available local media, as it applies to his area of responsibility.
  • Must keep up to date with an every other year background.
  • To be in touch with and to support the educational and youth leaders of the church.
  • Responsible for finding a suitable replacement during planned absences.
  • Attend all deacon meetings unless prior communicated to the Pastor
  • Any duty that is directed by the Pastor


PASTOR OF YOUTH AND FAMILY MINISTRY

PASTOR OF YOUTH AND FAMILY MINISTRY

This position is a salaried and full-time position. The Pastor of Youth & Family Ministry is responsible to the Senior Pastor and the FBC elders and charged with ministering to the youth in the church, as well as equipping parents for discipleship at home. The Pastor of Youth and Family Ministry works with the Senior Pastor and the Children’s Director to develop a comprehensive approach to discipleship with a church-wide aim and a family focus.

The Candidate must be committed to theological precision, intentional discipleship, and assisting parents to be the primary disciple-makers of their children.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential Qualifications:

The Pastor of Youth and Family Ministry is a member of the FBCNV elder team, and will therefore demonstrate the character and teaching abilities described for elders in passages such as Titus 1:5-9 and 1 Timothy 3:1-7. The Pastor Search Team will require the following evidence of a candidate’s qualifications:

  • Full agreement with FBCNV's Statement of Faith, Covenant, and Mission.
  • Evidence of spiritual maturity, knowledge of Scripture, and dedication to family discipleship
  • References of character and ability.
  • Clear background checks (e.g., Financial, Criminal Record, Child Abuse and Neglect)

The Pastor Search Team will also consider: 

  • A theological education of at least a Bachelor of Arts
  • Previous experience in ministry
  • Audio, video, or written samples of teaching ability/material
  • Additional items as requested by the team (e.g., questionnaire)

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ministry to Students:

           1.Study and prepare weekly lessons geared toward grounding the youth of the congregation in the core                     tenants of the Christian faith, grace of the gospel, and wisdom and theology of the Scriptures.

           2.Lead or oversee weekly Wednesday night youth gatherings, Sunday school classes, potential small                            groups, other youth discipleship programs.

           3. Lead an annual trip to student youth camp.

           4. Plan events throughout the year to promote youth fellowship and community outreach.

           5. Manage youth budget, receipts, financial direction, etc.

Ministry to Families:

           1. Cultivate relationships with parents and provide resources to equip them for in-home discipleship,                           family worship, development and growth of students.

          2. Invite families into the ministry, working to separate from a “youth only” approach and cultivate the                      family focus.

          3. Provide training for families on in-home discipleship.

Church Wide Discipleship:

          1. Work with the Senior Pastor and Children’s Director to develop an intentional and comprehensive                            discipleship plan for the whole church.

         2. Commit to pray for the congregation and commit to love them and shepherd them.

         3. Be willing and able to preach expository sermons in the absence of the Senior Pastor.

Outreach:   

         1. Be proactive in reaching the youth from the public Middle & High Schools, located right across the street               from First Baptist Church.

         2. First Baptist Church hosts a Christian school in our building that runs up to 7th grade. The Candidate                     should be proactive in engaging the 6-7 grade students in this school.

         3. Develop a presence in the community to minister to community youth & families.

         4. Seek out opportunities for the youth to be involved in the community through presence, service,                               evangelistic opportunities, and event hosting.

Outside of the listed responsibilities, the Candidate may be asked to take on other duties as reasonably assigned by the Senior Pastor or board of elders.

COMPENSATION: First Baptist Church of North Vernon's annual budget provides salary and benefits to the Pastor of Worship & Outreach. The distribution of salary, health insurance, medical reimbursement, retirement, or other designated benefits will be determined upon hiring.

Student Pastor

Westside Fellowship is seeking a Student Pastor who will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordinating, and implementation of student discipleship at Westside Fellowship.  The principal function of the Student Pastor at Westside Fellowship will be to serve as the primary director, curriculum designer, Bible teacher, and discipleship/mentorship coordinator for WestsideYouth, by creating and implementing a comprehensive discipleship ministry for the Middle School (6th-8th) and High School (9th-12th) students at Westside. Additionally, the Student Pastor will fulfill shepherding opportunities as indicated by the Senior Pastor, the elders, and the needs of the church. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who has a deep desire to see students come to know Jesus Christ.  Someone who is passionate about discipleship and is committed to fostering disciple-makers who know and treasure Jesus Christ. Someone who will lead the students and their families in becoming committed followers of Jesus and growing in Him. The focus is to foster a youth ministry that will not only reach students, but also partner with families in the evangelism and discipleship process.  This includes outreach to the community in order to build relationships that will in turn seek to build the body of Christ at Westside Fellowship. The harvest is ripe for students at Westside Fellowship, as our church campus is located immediately beside Western Alamance High School and within 5 miles of Elon University in Alamance County. Associate Pastor of Student Ministry and Missional Outreach

The Associate Pastor of Youth Ministry and Missional Outreach (AP) is a member of the Pastoral Staff of Lone Oak Baptist Church (LOBC). The AP shall be under the direct supervision of the Senior Pastor and shall be responsive and accountable to him in all matters assigned. This is a full-time, exempt position.

Principal Function: The AP will work in conjunction with the Senior Pastor to advance the mission of LOBC by supervising all functional areas relating to the church’s ministry to Middle and High School students and their families as well as cultivating a culture of missional outreach within the church.

Qualifications:

  • A clear testimony of faith in and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ as well as a clear testimony of calling into and the character necessary for vocational ministry as expressed in 1 Tim. 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
  • A minimum of a college degree is required for this position. Additional training such as seminary education and/or ministry experience qualifying a candidate for this position is preferred.
  • Agreement with the principles of faith as outlined in the Southern Baptist Faith and Message 2000, the mission and Covenant of LOBC, and ordination by a Southern Baptist congregation or recommendation to the ministry from a church of like faith and practice.
  • A background clear of any criminal activity and/or evidence of child abuse or neglect. Reference and background checks will be performed before the offer of any position.

Responsibilities:

Personal:

  • Maintain an authentic and ongoing walk with Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior.

Pastoral:

  • Assist in all areas of Pastoral Ministry to include, but not be limited to, preparing and delivering sermons at the discretion of the Senior Pastor, administration of the ordinances, visitation of members and prospects, performance of weddings and funerals, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or agreed upon by the Pastor.

Youth Ministry:

  • Prayerfully plan and coordinate all aspects of the youth ministries of LOBC in cooperation with the Pastor and all affected ministry teams. This requires meeting with the Pastor and/or Pastoral Staff at least weekly for prayer and coordination, preparing ministry updates for the congregation quarterly.
  • Organize, implement, and evaluate a balanced approach to student ministry that includes Bible study, discipleship training, missional outreach, recreation, fellowship, music, etc. This includes but is not limited to weekly Sunday School lessons, Sunday evening gatherings, retreats, camps, service projects, activities, etc.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and oversight of comprehensive policies to address safety, security, codes of conduct, etc. to safeguard of all involved in the LOBC Youth Ministry.
  • Oversee the leadership of the LOBC youth ministry including but not limited to the recruiting, training, vetting, scheduling, discipleship, and motivation of the Youth Ministry members, teachers, and volunteers.
  • Provide Christian guidance and care for all those connected to the Youth Ministry through visitation and counseling of students, parents, teachers, volunteers, prospective members, etc.
  • Regularly communicate updates regarding the Youth Ministry with students, church leadership, staff, parents, and the congregation in a timely manner utilizing the most appropriate available resources (email, website, social media, etc.).
  • Prepare and administer an annual budget for the LOBC Youth Ministries. Maintain all equipment and supplies related to the Youth Ministries and purchase new or replace existing equipment and supplies when necessary.

Missional Outreach:

  • Lead the congregation of LOBC in building a biblical culture of multiplication and missional outreach to our community, region, and world by planning and coordinating all aspects of the missional efforts of LOBC in cooperation with the Pastor and all affected ministry teams. This requires meeting with the Pastor and/or Pastoral Staff at least weekly for prayer and coordination and preparing ministry updates for the congregation quarterly.
  • Organize, implement, and evaluate a balanced approach to missional outreach locally, regionally, and globally that includes Bible study, discipleship training, outreach events, service opportunities, mission trips, etc.
  • Create and oversee a mechanism for the identification, recruitment, equipping, and sending of missionaries and mission teams as well as church planting and strengthening teams.
  • Annually evaluate the ministry partnerships of LOBC making recommendations for all forms of support.
  • Prepare and administer an annual budget for all LOBC missional outreach efforts and ministry partnerships. Maintain all equipment and supplies related to the missional ministries of LOBC, purchasing new or replacing equipment and supplies as necessary.

Welcome to First Baptist Church of Lacey.
